Hi Friends! Back today with a super duper easy thrift store upcycle as part of #DIYSummerSchool. Today Beth of designPOST asked us to find something from a local thrift store and share an easy DIY or upcycle involving that item. Now, mine is certainly NOT rocket science, but it’s more about looking at thrift store treasures a little closer and understanding their potential. I came across this little $2 brass tray (with amazing bamboo details) at a thrift store when I was home in Louisiana. It’s actually engraved and was presented as a trophy for a food cook off in the 80’s…isn’t that funny?! I knew that with a little bit of brass polish, this beauty would shine up perfectly as a great piece to style around my home. The entire project was around $8 and I just adore my new tray. With a little bit of googling, I also found an identical tray on Etsy for $90, and THIS one for nearly $200…so I feel really good about my shined up $2 treasure!

Wow, it cleaned up so well! I love that it is engraved!
I love it. It really did shine up beautifully.
Simple is always ok with me! I never grab the brass stuff bc I don't have a good brass cleaner but that stuff worked miracles! Love it!
I love this tray!!! My mom actually has it. Emily Henderson is selling it for $95 in her new online shop
I just found a tray like that and it needs a good polishing…Thanks for the tip!
Such a great find, Mallory! I have an oval shaped one just like that and it's one of my favorites!
What an awesome find, I love it! Xo, Stephanie
